VICKI OVERFELT received her Masters of Arts in Education with an emphasis in educational administration from Columbia University, Teachers College. For the past 10 years, Vicki has focused her instruction specifically on the study of stress reduction through the practice of mindfulness and specializes in the delivery of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Vicki received her MBSR training through the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Healthcare, and Society, located at UMASS Medical School, founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979. She has completed the full training path in MBSR, including MBSR in Mind Body Medicine, Practicum in MBSR, Teacher Development Intensive, Individual Supervision in MBSR, and MBSR Certification.

A practitioner of mind-body disciplines for more than 25 years Vicki follows a dedicated retreat practice which fortifies her devotion and understanding of the material she is dedicated to sharing with others. She teaches adult MBSR classes offered in the beauty of Red Butte Gardens.

Vicki also works as a mindfulness consultant at Davis Behavioral Health where she offers regular MBSR courses to therapists, supervises new MBSR teachers, and teaches "Cool Minds," an adolescent adaptation of MBSR, as part of Davis' community Prevention Program. Vicki has collaborated with University of Utah researchers on projects related to the effectiveness of mindfulness on various populations, and contracts with other organizations as a mindfulness instructor. Vicki is also qualified to teach “Mindful Schools,” and "Learning to Breathe," and is working with Davis Behavioral Health to implement those curricula throughout the district.
