Mind Body Skills Group - NOW ONLINE!

Join skilled facilitators Mara Rabin, MD and Amy Edwards, CMHC on Monday evenings beginning in April to explore ways to improve overall health and wellbeing. This group is ideal for people who are in need of skills to manage reactivity, mood and the physical/emotional costs of the stress response.   Because the group is limited to 12 participants, it is a supportive and productive environment for healing.  The group teaches a variety of self-care skills and is therefore especially helpful for people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic disease, and/or traumatic events.

The JFS Mind Body group typically has 10-12 participants and follows the Center for Mind Body Medicine's 9-week curriculum.  The curriculum was developed by James Gordon, MD, a Harvard trained psychiatrist, Professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown University Medical School, author, and world renowned expert in complementary medicine.  More information about this model can be found at www.cmbm.org . Mindfulness and Resilience Resources During the COVID-19 Outbreak

The great poet Hafiz wrote: “Need brings us together; that makes need sacred.” The “perverse blessing of this time” is that this is the soil out of which we grow the crop of love, connection, clarity, creativity, wisdom, and intelligence. In that spirit, we’ve created this list of resources that nourish us so that we may be strong and of benefit to those who need us. You might also refer to our general offering of resources. If you have something you’d like to add to our list, please send an email to vicki@mindfulnessutah.com. May all beings be at peace.

A Still Quiet Place: Youth Mindfulness Courses

Youth Mindfulness Course with Michelle Amussen, MOT, OTR/L, RYT

Based on the work of Dr. Amy Salzman, this eight-week course is designed for children ages 9-12. During this course, your child will learn specific ways of paying attention to their breath, body, thoughts, feelings, and the world around them. This way of paying attention is very powerful because when we can observe our thoughts and feelings, then we can choose how we respond. Children who have taken this course have found it has helped them with their friends, parents, brother, sisters, schoolwork, and other activities.

Instructor, Michelle Amussen, is an occupational therapist at a local children’s hospital, and works with children with mental and physical disabilities, mood disorders, and injuries. For more information about this course and the different scheduling options (4:45PM or 6:00PM), as well as Michelle’s background, please visit: https://www.incorporatemindfulness.com.
